[3DS] Animal Crossing - Happy Home Designer

A simulation game based off Nook's homes in Animal Crossing. The player gets to design houses for the animal clients. However, there is no challenge to designing the house to tailor the clients interest.

Story

There is no actual story to this game. Nothing to strive for.

The player creates a character (can be modified later) and starts working for Nook's Homes. The player does not own a house that can be modified. I assume the player's character has a place to stay but does not want the player to mess with it.

Gameplay

Simulation games tend to be repetitive and Happy Home Designer is no different. The tutorial period goes by very quickly. After designing a few houses, other features are unlocked.

Features
Inside Nook's Homes

  • Handbook = tutorials that unlock more items or features. Requires play coins.
  • Amiibo phone = Calls Animal Crossing characters from Amiibo cards
  • Happy Home Network = Can post/visit designs people have made. Requires Internet.
  • Sewing Machine = Can create designs or import them through QR code.
  • 3DS XL on desk = Special requests, can't cancel once started. Requires Internet.
  • Changing Room = Change clothes (can't change top)
  • Chair with overhead = Can change hair, eyes and color.

Inside other places (homes or facilities)

  • Can tap amiibo cards to invite characters to homes or set roles in facilities. Special amiibo cards will be too busy for roles in facilities.
  • Can change clothes (top included) by dragging the character to the clothes stack.

Every day (in game time) the player is allowed to design one house. The player can also visit client's houses and invite amiibo card characters to the home. Facilities can also be visited once created. Client homes and facilities can be redesigned if desired.

Final Thoughts

I was hoping this game would be more content expansive similar to Style Savvy. The game lacks any sort of challenge. The clients never disliked any design I made, even ones that make no sense and looks ridiculous. I would not mind some feedback to know how much they actually like the house design.

The requests from clients are quite vague. Even if they want a house full of something, the client can only have up to three required items in the design. There is nothing about where the house should be located or the size of house. There are preset size designs to choose from, one room and two room (at least for now). Since there are options to customize, I am surprised there is not an option to draw a room size. It would fit some clients better.

Even though Happy Home Designer lacks any sort of challenge or things to get, it is still a great game for very casual play. Creativity is endless with more and more content added for each new client. I find myself helping clients design their new homes while looking for items I could use for facilities. I do wish I had my own home to customize though. I do not know how much I have to play before the wave of new items end but in the mean time, I will continue playing.

Recommended for those who like designing without any consequences and very casual play.
