Tearaway Overview

Tearaway is a short yet fun game that utilizes all the controls. There are many creative aspects that makes the game feel interactive, fresh and different.

Present!
Story

Two narrators start the story with the player choosing a character (male/female) which represents the Messenger. The narrators are bored of the same story over and over again (only know of one repeated story, the story does not delve into the rest). They decide that this story was going to be different, somehow. The player is represented as the sun or known as the You. The Messenger is trying to reach the sun to deliver a message.

The story lasted longer than I originally thought. Every time I thought I was done, there was another chapter. I almost forgot what the messenger's mission was.

Many camera options. Selfie of messenger.
Gameplay

This game utilizes the different functions in the PS Vita. The back/front touch screen, buttons, and the gyroscope. The game outlines where the front and back touch screen could be used (really useful). The levels are beaten with what knowledge is known.

There is a camera for the game which could be used to take photos. There are many type of shots and filters to choose from. Just like an actual camera, if the PS Vita is not held steady, the picture can be blurry.

The messenger can be customized. There are pre existing options (many which cost confetti) or if that is not good enough, it can be drawn and cut out. Sadly, drawing my own with the front touch screen looks terrible since I cannot see through my finger.
Papercraft in the distance.
There are lots of collectibles in the game. Papercraft can be found in white and unlocked once a good picture is taken of it. There are blue presents which can be unlocked by helping someone or playing a game. Red presents which can be found on the level (some are more hidden than others). All scraps defeated in the level and lastly, confetti. Confetti is the currency used to unlock camera upgrades or messenger customization extras.

Final Thoughts

The story and gameplay was captivating and fun until the end. The levels were well designed to be able to find and collect everything from no difficulty to some difficulty.

The papercrafts that were found in the level can be accessed on an external site. This site will allow the papercrafts found to be printed and made. I love papercraft, just been a while since I have made any. There are a total of 60 papercrafts and I cannot make all of those. It would cost too much ink and paper. I'll probably make the few that I like.

This game has a bit of everything and the experience can only be best seen by one playing/watching. I had someone look and was uninterested. As I went further in the game, the same person looked again and was intrigued to know what it was.

Recommended for most types of players. (Casual, adventure, platform, collection, etc)
